NIEUWE MEER STEIGER
Nederland, Noord Holland
Enter the Nieuwe Meer (the New Lake) from the stone quay or the small beach. Concentrate on the shallows near the entry point and the area around the peninsula, which is covered with overgrown debris. Visibility may vary. Check the most recent log messages in Divers Guide app. The Nieuwe Meer is directly connected to a canal. This results in a wide biodiversity with species such as Chinese mitten crab and catfish.
Particulars
Enter the Nieuwe Meer from the stone pier or the small beach. Dive across the slowly sloping bottom and keep your eyes open. Do you see something moving? It's probably an eel shooting away or a Chinese mitten crab startled by your dive light. The bottom of the Nieuwe Meer is sometimes covered with litter. Bring a bag to collect the countless beer cans, sunglasses, plastic bags and shoes. Do you want to find the wooden wreck as well. It's located northeast of the entry point.
Warnings
Pay attention to the sailing times of Veerpont Nieuwe Meer. Beware of sharp objects that can damage your gear. Only enter the water in periods of good visibility. Check the log messages in Divers Guide app.
