CANDYLAND
Bonaire
Candyland is a remote, still fairly pristine dive site full of healthy coral. The reef is hilly and the coral density is quite high. The shallow plateau near the shore contains large fields of healthy coral as well. This makes Candyland an ideal location for snorkeling. Enjoy the many different types of coral, such as the plate and pillar coral, and the beautiful black coral below 21 meters.
Particulars
Enter Candyland from the shoreline, which consitst of small rocks and runs steeply down to the water. Park near the pile of stones near the road and walk to the second pile of stones on the shore. Just in front of this entry point, a narrow canal runs through the reef to deeper water. The reef itself consists of hard and soft coral, with the most beautiful parts between 8 and 15 meters. You will encounter all kinds of fish, from bannerfish and grunt to gobies, triggerfish and more.
Warnings
Candyland is a remote dive site. Strong surge, wait to put on your fins until you have reached deeper water. Shoreline slopes steeply down, be careful. Search for landmarks to find the exit after your dive.
