PIPPO
Malta
The Pippo is a 18 meter long boat and lies in an upright position on the sandy seabed at 30 meters depth. Despite of its small size, a dive at the Pippo is very interesting because it is quite well preserved and very fotogenetic because of all the rigging still attached to the boat. There are also still cages used in the fishing industry at the stern of the wreck. Diving inside the wreck is not as rewarding as there is not much space to move.
Particulars
The MV Pippo was built in Malta by Cassar Shipyard. The boat was used for surveys, as a cruise boat and as a cargo boat for the local tuna farming industry. In October 2004 the Pippo was on its way from Comino to Malta with a load of tuna, as suddenly it started taking water and sank. Diving base Sea Shell in Melieha will now the exact location because the owner found this boat.
