BERGSE DIEPSLUIS OESTERDAM 81
Nederland, Zeeland
Bergse Diepsluis is a popular dive site. It lies in a tributary of the Oosterschelde. This causes the tidal effect to be almost nonexistent, making the Bergse Diepsluis an ideal dive site for beginners. Typical for the Bergse Diepsluis are the many cuttlefish that migrate here in the spring to mate. Hundreds of divers visit this location every year, just to witness this phenomenon. The underwater world of Bergse Diepsluis consists of basalt blocks and ancient rock formations. A perfect habitat for lobsters, crabs and cuttlefish.
Particulars
Bergse Diepsluis Oesterdam is known for its cuttlefish. Those who come for these beautiul animals should keep an eye on the water temperature. As soon as it reaches twelve degrees Celsius, the cuttlefish arrive in large numbers. Every year special cuttlefish tents are placed here by volenteers on which they can lay their eggs.
Warnings
It can sometimes be difficult to find your way back to the entry point. Bergse Diepsluis Oesterdam is a busy dive site in weekends.
