SOUTH REEF
Malta
South Reef is located at the southeast tip of Malta, just past Marsaxlokk. It's considered one of the best dive spots, regarding the visibility. Nevertheless it's often forgotten, probably because you can only dive her in very calm weather. The reef starts at 9 meters, fast sloping to 12 meters, where you'll find a drop-off to 24 meters.
Particulars
Diving from the shore is not easy because of the rocky path. Therefore it's better to make a boat dive, especially if you want to reach the deeper reefs. At 20 meters you'll find a cave and a chimney leading to 9 meters. It's said there's a plain wreck as well, but only local divers know its location.
Warnings
There are hunters and bird trappers here who don't like the prescense of divers. Watch out for boats and fishing gear, bring a knife.
