CAI
Bonaire
Cai is the most famous and accessible dive site on the East side of Bonaire. Diving is possible from the shore as well as from a boat. Cai has a beautiful reef where turtles, eagle rays and moray eels thrive. In the canal, out of the bay, large schools of fish roam around, including tarpons. Always dive with a local guide, especially in harsh weather conditions. Futhermore, the area is too large to discover all the beautiful spots by yourself.
Particulars
Park at Cai left from the piles of shells. Then enter the water from the sandy shore. The bottom runs down steeply in a canal that is full of fish. To the right of the entry point the water is shallow, this area is ideal for snorkeling with turtles. Cai is located in Lac, which is part of the Bonaire National Marine Park. This is a beautiful, protected mangrove area. Visit the Mangrove Information & Kayak Centre after your dive or book a kayak trip through this extraordinarily interesting area.
Warnings
Cai is known for its strong, changing currents. Only experienced divers. Always dive with a local guide and preferably from a boat.
