GAASPERPLAS OOST
Nederland, Noord Holland
Gaasperplas Oost (East) is a dive spot with varying visibility. Count on an average of about 2 to 3 meters. The underwater world consists of a sloping bottom, culminating in an impressive peat area, full of corridors, tunnels and walls. In the peat you will find small marine animals, such as mussels, crayfish and insects. Dive along the corridors and walls and along the tunnels of the enormous peat formations.
Particulars
Enter Gaasperplas Oost from the north shore. There are two entry points. The most commonly used is the one with the concrete steps (see map). The bottom slopes down gradually. Dive over the gravel bottom along the shore before reaching deeper water, where the bottom turns into peat. The peat walls are impressive. Some are as high as 20 meters.
Warnings
Be careful in Gaasperplas Oost. You can end up under an unstable peat wall if visibility is limited. Diving on the south side at Gaasperplas Windsurfing is forbidden. The concrete steps are slippery underwater due to algae growth. Beware of sailing boats
